Rev. Brian & Kimm Burgee
Rev. Brian Burgee began his walk in full time ministry over 30 years ago after being called many years before as a teenager. It was a long journey which lead him through a life of drugs and alcohol before being delivered miraculously through the ministry of a small store-front church. Now he has a burden to minister healing, life and hope to others and especially those struggling with addictions and ones that are lost spiritually. Those that the world would call outcasts. He also has a vision to see unity in the Body of Christ and pastors working together to advance the Kingdom.
Pastor Brian served for several years as an associate pastor with Rock City Church in Baltimore before joining the staff at the Rock Church in Virginia Beach working directly with the Bishop. His wife Kimm also served on the staffs of both churches as the Administrative Assistant to the senior pastor and then to the Bishop. In November of 1998 the Word of the Lord came that it was time for him to be sent out and in May of 1999 he and Kimm left Virginia Beach and moved to Florida to plant the Rock Church of Tampa Bay in Oldsmar. The church is a growing vibrant church which has just celebrated its 15th birthday.
Pastor Brian is ordained through RMF. He is a graduate of RMF Intensive Training School and has had extensive training in marriage counseling and small group ministry. Pastor Brian and Kimm are originally from Baltimore, Maryland. They have been married for over 30 years and have two daughters and four grandchildren.
Rev. Tim & Kristin Wyllys
Pastor Tim and Kristin both made Jesus their Savior when they were children, yet strayed away from the Lord while in college. Each did not develop a deep relationship with God until their late twenties. It was after recommitting their lives back to the Lord that they were introduced to each other at work. They soon realized that each other were the Godly person that would be their spouse. After they were married, they made Rock Church of Tampa Bay their home church. They love serving the Lord together, and are dedicated to fulfilling the God given call on their life.
The Wyllys’ are called to teach the integrity of the Word of God, showing believers how to develop that integrity in their own lives. They have a heart to teach believers to develop a true relationship with the Father, through Jesus, going beyond being just a casual Christian. They believe in unity in the Body of Christ, “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).”
Pastor Tim and Kristin reside in Tampa, Florida where they raise their daughter, Abigail and their son, Ethan.
Waino (Wayne) & Diane Nisula
Waino (Wayne) was born in 1944 in Brooklyn, NY. He is a retired Civil/Structual Engineer, having graduated from the University of Florida in 1967. Wayne got saved in 1980 at Trinity Baptist Church in Clearwater. He graduated with two-year lay-persons curriculum from Trinity Bible College in Dunedin, FL. He also served as an Elder at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Chrurch in Dunedin. Wayne is the Treasurer and also leads a weekly bible study at an assited-living facility. Pastor Burgee affectionately says Wayne is so old that he pre-dates the dinosaurs.
Diane was born in Norwood, MA., the same year Isreal became a nation state, after World War II. She got saved in 1972 at Walpole Assembly of God in Walpole, MA. She graduated from Wheelock College in Boston in 1994 with a degree of Associates in Science, majoring in early childhood. Diane loves children, especially babies. She owned and managed First Step Day Care and Pre-School Center in MA for 18 years. She also organized and implemented day care centers in ten (10) cities in MA. Diane currently serves as the Head of the Nursery. She also has a heart to start a young women's ministry, having been given a vision by the Lord over 25 years ago. Diane helped found three (3) churches and has held about every position imaginable in church ministry over a span on 42 years, which is pretty good for a woman that is only 39 years old.
Wayne and Diane were married in 2013 after the death of their spouses, Marcia and Tony, who both loved the Lord. They were married 46 and 40 years, respectively. Wayne and Diane believe the Lord orchestrated their relationship, not only as husband and wife, but as partners in ministry, including hospital and nursing home visitation. Between them, they have 10 children, 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren (and counting). They believe age is only a number, but Wayne says Diane's number is higher than his.
Charles & Patricia Nelson
Charles and Patricia Nelson have been married for over 20 years and have 4 children. Charles and Patricia serve as Elders at the church. Charles leads worship during Prayer Meeting on Monday nights and during service worship times. Patricia serves as the Minister of Education and helps homeschooling parents with their children's education and tutors others who are trying to get their GED.
Robert & Rachel Larcom
Robert (born and raised in Florida) attended Pinellas County public schools where he was able to see the difficult side of growing up outside of God and the church. In middle school he joined the band program and has been involved with music playing a large variety of instruments. In 2007, Robert came to know the Lord at Rock Church and after some personal struggles has been a fixture of the church since. Robert still continues his passion of music performing and using those opportunities to share God’s word and love with those he is performing for.
Rachel (born in Pennsylvania and raised in upstate New York) grew up in church and was saved as a youth. She had the opportunity to be homeschooled for high school, allowing her to graduate early, where the door opened to pursue nursing school. In that time she struggled spiritually; however toward the end of 2007, things turned around and she rededicated her life to God, awakening Rachel to her purpose and identity in God and pursing Him with everything, with a great cost. She then moved to Nashville to start fresh, and after living there for some time, one travel nursing assignment brought her to Florida and she’s been here ever since.
Rachel was led to Rock Church by the Holy Spirit and after being invited to join a group of people to lunch they met officially. After a whirlwind courtship and quickly realizing God had brought them together they were married in July of 2011. Robert serves as an assistant leader for the Block Parties outreach and the Head of the Audio Ministry. Rachel is the Head of the Flag Ministry and Children's Church; they are both members of the Worship team. Where ever God places them, even outside of their personal comfort zones, Robert and Rachel bring their diverse testimonies to show the faithfulness of Jesus and His everlasting love.
Caleb & Shelby Sullivan
Growing up in church and being involved in ministry their whole lives, Caleb and Shelby know how it is to be "church kids". Their friendship was the result of their two different youth groups joining together once a month to worship God. In middle-school, Jesus radically opened their eyes to Himself and they began to have real relationships with God, growing in spiritual gifts, and discovering the secret place of communion with God through prayer and worship.
At different times they each interned with an intercessory prayer ministry in Tallahassee. Caleb also interned on different worship tours around the world. Each summer they have joined with different ministries to go on "short-term missions" to Mexico, Fiji, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Mozambique (with a whole bunch more to come!)
Caleb and Shelby married in 2012 and now have two beautiful children, their son Justice and their daughter Jubilee.
Bill & Melissa Hartman
Bill was born and raised in Binghamton, New York. Melissa was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. Bill and Melissa were both saved at the age of 9 in their hometowns. After they were saved, their lives took turns which lead them to pull away from the Lord and go in a different direction.
Bill started drinking at the age of 14 to cope with his life as he knew it. After completing a rehab program to deal with the drugs and alcohol that were consuming his life, he moved to Florida from New York 23 years ago leaving that life behind. After 10 years clean Bill went through a divorce and fell back into the alcohol addiction.
Throughout her childhood, Melissa endured several types of abuses in her life. At the age of 23, after leaving a 5 year physically abusive relationship with an alcoholic and moving from state to state, she found herself a single mom of three boys. Melissa then returned to Florida and went back to college before declining into poor health which was severe enough to place her on disability.
Bill and Melissa were lead to the Rock Church of Tampa Bay within months of each other over 10 years ago. Bill was still struggling with alcohol but he knew God was calling him back while Melissa received a miraculous healing from the Lord and was healed of all ailments. This is when God moved mountains with strength, wisdom, words of knowledge and persistence. While dating for three years, Bill became free from the alcohol addiction and God softened his heart towards Melissa's boys until they became his own. Melissa was able to let go of the past fears, failures and hurts and let God order her steps. They were married at Rock Church on May 23, 2009. Bill has been free from alcohol for over 9 years and they have made a life together along with their sons.
Bill and Melissa are Deacons at Rock Church. Melissa serves as the Administrator and the Minister of Helps.
George & Nicole Jones
George and Nicole met at the Rock Church of Tampa Bay in 2008 and married September 4, 2010. George and Nicole led very different lives and travelled very different paths that both led to the Rock Church of Tampa Bay.
Born in Washington, D.C., George was raised in the Catholic Church where he was an altar boy until the age of 19. While attending Frostburg State University George thought he became a success by becoming a hip hop artist and by buying and selling multiple drugs. At the age of 18 he became an everyday user of marijuana, and by the time he was 21 an addict of cocaine. Although he did graduate with two Bachelors of Arts degrees in Music Business and Theatre, his music career led him to move to Florida in 2006. George’s drug use and sales of drugs increased dramatically. In 2007, due to his use of drugs, George was arrested, causing his music career to come to a complete stop. Faced with the reality of his situation, George turned to God and ended up at the Rock Church of Tampa Bay where he met Jesus. George serves on the worship team and as the Head of the live Streaming Ministry.
Nicole grew up in Oldsmar, FL. Saved at young age, Nicole’s zeal for God weakened during middle school and most of high school. God’s word never returns void and the overwhelming love of God captured Nicole and she rededicated her life to Jesus Christ when she was 17. Nicole attended the Rock Church of Tampa Bay for a year before deciding to attend church with her parents. After several years of serving on the worship team at Global Family Fellowship, God opened the door for Nicole and her parents to return to the Rock Church of Tampa Bay. Currently Nicole serves as the Head of the Performing Arts Ministry.
